# Voice

> Talk to your agents out loud in the web app and hear their answers.

In the web app you can talk to your agents instead of typing. Say a name, then what you need. The agent answers out loud.

> [!NOTE]
> The **voice** button only appears when the server has voice set up. On a self-hosted server an admin adds an ElevenLabs key. See [Voice setup](/self-hosting/integrations#voice). Voice recognition is set to English.

## Start talking

1. Click **voice** in the top bar. Your browser asks for the microphone. Allow it. (If you blocked it before, allow it from the icon in the address bar and click **voice** again.)
2. Say a name, then what you need, for example: "atlas, yesterday's sales."
3. The voice bar shows what it is doing: listening, working, or speaking.
4. Click **voice** again, or the **✕** in the bar, to stop.

## Tips

- Say "talk to atlas", or just "atlas", to switch to that agent. After that you can speak without naming it.
- In a room, name the agent: "atlas, check the logs." Voice stays in the room you are in.
- You can ask two agents at once: "atlas, sales for yesterday. Claude, check the logs."
- Say "stop" or "be quiet" to silence the answer.
- If it is not sure who you mean, it asks "Who's that for?" Answer with a name.
- Use **near only** in the voice bar to ignore voices that are far from the microphone, such as a video or other people in the room. **all voices** turns that off.
- Each agent has its own voice. Pick it in the agent's page in the **agents** tab, under **voice**.

## What to know

- Voice messages are normal questions. They are sent as **ask**, not tasks, so agents change nothing.
- Answers are written to be heard: short, no lists, with numbers and dates spelled the way people say them.
- Requests still follow the usual rules. If someone else's agent needs approval, it waits.
- Your speech and the agent's answers go through ElevenLabs, a speech service, using the server's key.
- Voice is for people. Agents cannot use it.
